A MAN has been arrested for assaulting a young woman and police officers in a violent late-night attack.

Police are appealing to the public for any witnesses of the assault to come forward and assist in their investigations.

At about 11pm on Tuesday, January 6, police were alerted to an assault taking place at the intersection of Hill and Sturt streets, Murray Bridge.

An 18-year-old female victim was taken to the Murray Bridge Hospital for treatment following the incident.

A 21-year-old Murray Bridge man has been charged with making threats to kill, assault causing harm, affray and assaulting police.

He was refused bail and appeared in the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court.

Murray Mallee police warned they will not tolerate domestic violence and will take every action to protect victims.

Investigators believe at least one vehicle passed the location during the incident and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the event to call police.
